7 Scriptures to Overcome Worry and Fear
When worry, fear, and anxiety show up, it can feel overwhelming. But what if those challenges are actually opportunities for us to grow and build a better life?
Each day, God invites us to let go of stress, distractions, and the weight of our anxious thoughts so He can help us carry the load. By turning to His Word, we can find the peace we’ve been searching for, overcome anxiety, and allow God to do the heavy lifting in our lives.
Use these seven powerful scriptures to help you overcome worry and fear so you can experience true peace from God.
Day 1: Matthew 6:34
“Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.” (TPT)
Start your week by focusing on today and trusting that God is already taking care of what’s ahead. Overcoming worry begins with letting go of thoughts about tomorrow and allowing God to take control.
Day 2: Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)
When anxiety creeps in, pour out your concerns to God and watch how His peace will replace your fear.
Day 3: 1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (NIV)
God invites you to give all your worries to Him, and trust that He cares deeply about what you’re going through.
Day 4: Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (ESV)
When fear wants to take control, this is your reminder that you’re never alone and God wants to strengthen you.
Day 5: Psalm 94:19
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” (NIV)
On those days when anxiety feels overwhelming, know that God’s comfort can transform fear into joy and offer a peace the world can’t provide.
Day 6: Joshua 1:9
“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (CSV)
Know that God is right beside you as you face challenges head-on with courage, knowing that God is right beside you through every obstacle.
Day 7: 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (NKJV)
Fear has no place in your life. God equips you with keys to living fearlessly – power, love, and peace of mind.
