10 Family Fun Activities for This Fall
Fall has a way of resetting life’s rhythm. School is back in session, sports and activities are in full swing, and family calendars are filling up fast. With so much happening, finding intentional ways to connect as a family becomes even more important.
That’s why this season is the perfect time to create simple, meaningful moments that keep you close, even in the middle of busy schedules. Here are 10 ways to enjoy the season as a family.
1. Pumpkin Patch Adventures
Nothing says fall quite like a family trip to the pumpkin patch. Beyond just picking pumpkins, many farms offer hayrides, corn mazes, petting zoos, and plenty of photo-worthy spots. It’s the kind of outing where kids can run, explore, and let their curiosity lead the way.
Bring a thermos of cider, snap a few candid photos, and enjoy the slower pace together. Sometimes the best family traditions are as simple as spending a crisp afternoon wandering through rows of pumpkins and soaking in the season.
2. Cozy Fire Pit Nights
You don’t need a big bonfire to make special fall memories. A simple fire pit in the backyard does the trick. Gather the family, roast marshmallows, and stack them into gooey s’mores while sharing stories or chatting about the day’s highs and lows.
The glow of the fire creates a space to slow down, laugh together, and enjoy the season without distractions. It’s simple, cozy, and something kids (and parents!) will look forward to all fall long.
3. Serve Together
Fall is fun, but it’s also the beginning of colder days ahead. This season is a great opportunity to teach our kids compassion by serving together. From October 4th–26th, you can bring new or gently used coats, blankets, hats, gloves, socks, and shoes to any Faith Church location during the annual Coat & Blanket Drive.
Everything collected will be given out through Serve My City on November 1st. Families can serve side-by-side to help keep others warm this winter and show God’s love in action.
4. Fall Crafts & Creative Fun
Leaves, pinecones, and pumpkins are basically nature’s craft supplies. Try leaf rubbings, pumpkin painting, or even making a fall wreath together.
We’re not going for Pinterest perfect projects. It’s about laughter, creativity, and making something side by side.
5. Family Movie Night
Pull out the blankets, pop some popcorn, and set up a cozy family movie night. Make it special with seasonal snacks like apple cider or pumpkin bread.
Rotate who picks the movie each time so everyone feels included, and don’t forget to snap a picture of the family pile on the couch.
6. Fall Nature Walks & Hikes
Cooler weather makes this season perfect for family hikes. Head to a local park or nature trail, grab a thermos of hot cocoa, and take time to notice the beauty of the changing leaves.
Point out the variety in God’s creation. I’s a great way to remind your kids that just as seasons change, so do the seasons in our lives.
7. Family Night Out
Get ready for the sweetest night of the year! Candypalooza is happening Tuesday, October 28th, at Faith Church, and it’s packed with fun for the whole family. Kids can wear their not-so-scary costumes and dive into inflatables, games, s’mores, hayrides, and photo ops. And of course, everyone heads home with loads of candy!
It’s FREE, safe, and designed to be a night of joy for your family. These are the kinds of memories your kids will talk about for years.
8. Game Night Indoors
When the evenings get chilly, bring the fun inside with a family game night. Break out the board games, card games, or even create your own trivia questions.
You’ll be surprised how many memories come from a little friendly competition. Winner gets to pick dessert!
9. Seasonal Treats Together
Spend an afternoon baking something festive – pumpkin bread, apple crisp, or sugar cookies shaped like leaves. Invite your kids to stir, sprinkle, and taste-test along the way.
Not only will your house smell amazing, but baking together creates sweet memories you’ll savor long after the treats are gone.
10. Family Sports Day
Cooler weather makes fall the perfect season to head outside and get moving. Gather your family for a casual sports day in the backyard or at a local park. Bring a football to toss around, set up a kickball game, or create your own mini “family Olympics” with relay races, obstacle courses, or tug-of-war.
Don’t forget to pack snacks and warm drinks so you can refuel and keep the fun going.
From playful nights at Candypalooza to meaningful moments serving through the Coat & Blanket Drive, this fall has endless opportunities to build new family traditions.
So grab your flannels and dive into the season. What fall activity will your family try first?
