When Life Doesn’t Go as Planned

Ever had a season where nothing seemed to line up?

You made the move, started the project, trusted it was the right direction—and then… crickets.

It’s frustrating, right? We start wondering if we missed the moment. If we zigged when we should’ve zagged.

Sometimes what feels like a detour is actually direction. We think the road closed, but God’s just getting traffic out of the way for what’s next.

The Holy Spirit has this way of leading us through what looks like a delay, only to get us exactly where we need to be—on time, and in one piece.

What We Don’t See at First

We don’t always get the full picture right away. God tends to give us little pieces at a time, a word here, a whisper there, a sense that something’s coming.

And honestly? That’s usually where our faith grows.

The Holy Spirit nudges us to take the next step even when we can’t see ten steps ahead. That “something in our heart” moment is so much more than a random feeling. It’s actually direction from the Holy Spirit.

But we’ve got to stay open. If we get hard, cynical, or start trying to force things, we end up missing what God’s trying to pour in. Staying flexible keeps us ready for whatever He wants to do next.

Keeping the Heart Soft

Life has a way of toughening us up. People hurt us. Opportunities don’t pan out. Then we start protecting ourselves from disappointment instead of preparing ourselves for what’s next.

When our hearts stay soft, we can hear God clearly again. Ezekiel 36:26 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.” God wants to keep our hearts tender so His Spirit can move through us.

When we’re open, even ordinary days become Holy Spirit moments. A conversation at work. A chance meeting at the store. A friend who says the exact words we needed to hear.

That’s how He works. He turns regular, everyday moments into divine setups.

Small Steps, Big Impact

The Holy Spirit speaks through other people, but most of the time He’s whispering directly to us.

“Text that person.” “Say you’re sorry.” “Try again.” It’s when we follow that prompting, that a chain reaction is set off in ways we couldn’t have planned.

That’s how God writes the best stories. It’s not the whole battle plan, just one, small “yes” at a time.

When we stay in step with Him, He lines things up in ways we’d never pull off on our own.

Faith That Sticks Around

Maybe today you’re praying for something that hasn’t shown up yet. It’s easy to get tired, to wonder if we missed it, or think maybe God moved on.

But He hasn’t. What He starts, He promises to finish.

Sometimes He’s still building what we’ll step into later. Sometimes He’s taking the time to work on our hearts first so we can handle the blessing. And sometimes, He’s already got it handled, and we just haven’t seen the proof yet.

God’s timing is always right on time. And when it’s right, it’s unstoppable.

Stay Ready, Stay Close

When we keep our hearts open, our schedules flexible, and our faith steady, we’ll always be in position for God to move.

The Holy Spirit will keep leading us, sometimes through waiting, sometimes through work, and sometimes right into a surprise we didn’t see coming.

So don’t rush it. Keep showing up. Keep saying yes. Keep believing even when it’s quiet.

Because when it’s time, it won’t just fall into place— it’ll make sense why it took so long.
